The ship stopped in the heart of Stockholm, 2 km from the old town of Gamla Stan. Since our stay was limited, we decided to be only in Gamla Stan. We walked from the ship to the Old City. The walk is on the waterfront and is very nice . The old town is charming, full of streets and paintings and masses of tourists. We walked toward the King's Palace: Kungliga Slottet. The ceremony for changing the guard at the palace is at 12 noon, and since we arrived earlier, they entered the Royal Palace Museum. The exchange ceremony was very enjoyable, and to our surprise the ceremony was held in English.

From there we continued to Stockholm Cathedral: Storkyrkan, located just outside the palace.

We sat in the main square - Stortorget in a nice cafe overlooking the square. The weather was pleasant so we could sit outside. We arrived in Stockholm in early June and the place was bustling with tourists and very enjoyable.

In the square where we sat was the Swedish Academy building and the Nobel Museum, but we decided to skip it and continue to walk around. Gamla Stan is small - so you can walk the length and breadth and look at the charming shops and beautiful views. Before returning to the ship, we stopped at a pastry shop, stocked up delicious pastries, and returned on foot to the ship.
